The internal structure is an essential part of large metal statues, especially large bronze Buddha statue. Then how to design the internal structure in a manner way involves many different aspects and steps.
I To design a preliminary internal structure according to the existing exterior design, it is normally a draft for subsequent optimization purpose.
II To collect local Static factors including wind load, wind speed, snow pressure, seismic factors and etc, and based on this to proceed with structure calculation and foundation column base calculation.
III Optimizing the internal structure according to the calculations and ensure it conforms to local construction regularly as well.
IV Issue construction drawings of internal structure based on optimized internal structure.
V To start the internal structure fabrication by groove welding and penetration welding.
VI Do the necessary surface anti-rust treatment and fire prevention treatment.
Generally speaking, we adopt carbon steel as the main internal structure material such as Q345B, Q235B, and so on. Compared to stainless steel, carbon steel owns better toughness and strength and is more suitable for internal structure. But in order to make up for the corrosion resistance, we usually use anti-rust paint or electro-galvanized coating on the surface.
Of course, there are also stainless steels, which need to be comprehensively evaluated and carefully selected on the basis of calculations.
